Dr. Angela Eckhoff

DAN DICKERSON, Ph.D., received a BS in Science Education from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and an MS and PhD in Science Education from North Carolina State University.  His research focuses on the teaching and learning of earth and environmental science content, environmental education, and integrated STEM education. He is an award-winning educator and researcher with over 100 state, national, and international presentations at professional conferences, more than 50 published scholarly works, and holds a US Patent. He is a former high school earth science teacher who has served as PI, Co-PI, or Evaluator on NOAA, NSF, NIH, US Department of Education, IMLS, Dept of Labor, state, and foundation funded projects.    

SHANAN CHAPPELL, Ph.D., received her terminal degree in Education Curriculum and Instruction from Old Dominion University (ODU), a Master of Education from Regent University, and a Bachelor of Arts in Communications from Virginia Wesleyan College. She is currently co-principal investigator serving as analyst and consultant on a variety of projects in The Center for Educational Partnerships at ODU where she serves as Research Assistant Professor. She also recently accepted a two-year appointment as a Fellow in Clemson University’s National Dropout Prevention Center. She previously served as an analyst for a randomized-controlled trial conducted by the Regional Education Lab - Appalachia, as Research Analyst in the Sparks Bureau of Business and Economics Research at the University of Memphis, as adjunct professor in the Computer Information Services and Computer Technology Services departments at the College of the Albemarle in northeast North Carolina, as Research Assistant for educational policy studies at the Old Dominion University Research Foundation, and as instructor in ODU's Darden College of Education. She has authored or co-authored numerous peer-reviewed journal articles and technical reports. She has experience teaching at the elementary level and as a Computer and Technology Skills curriculum designer. Her research interests include educational policy studies, dropout prevention and college and career readiness initiatives, teacher preparation programs, and educational technology initiatives.



ANGELA ECKHOFF, Ph.D. received a BS in Human Development and Family Services from Kansas State University, a MS in Educational Psychology from the University of Kansas, and a Dual Ph.D. in Educational Psychology and Cognitive Science from the University of Colorado at Boulder.  Her areas of specialization and research include visual arts pedagogy in early childhood education, imagination and creative development during childhood, and informal learning environments for children and families.  She has authored more than a dozen scholarly publications and over 25 presentations at national and international conferences in education, museum studies, and psychology.
